How to Calculate Your Personality Number
- Enter your first name, all middle names together in the optional middle-name field, and your last name, as given at birth.
- Keep only consonants. Remove A, E, I, O, U and any Y classified as a vowel by the spelling rules below.
- Convert the remaining letters using the Pythagorean chart.
- Add and reduce each input field separately, stopping at one digit or 11, 22 or 33.
- Add the reduced field totals and reduce again using the same rule.
An empty middle-name field contributes zero. Multiple middle names in the same field are combined before reduction. The calculator displays the letters it counted so you can check them.

The Personality number is 8. Here, Y follows a vowel, so it is counted as a consonant.
How does the calculator classify Y?
Y counts as a vowel at the start of a word when followed by a consonant, at the end when preceded by a consonant, and inside a word when its preceding letter is a consonant. Other Ys count as consonants. For example, the Y in Kyle is excluded from the Personality calculation, while the Y in Yolanda is included.
These spelling-based rules cannot determine every name’s pronunciation. Check the displayed consonants and read the Y rules guide if your name has an exception.

Questions about Personality calculations
Can I calculate my Personality number by date of birth?

How is this different from my Soul Urge number?
Personality uses consonants for outward impressions. Soul Urge uses vowels for inner motivations. The Expression number uses all letters. Their reduced results do not necessarily add together, because master numbers and field reductions can affect the calculation.
Which spelling should I enter?
Use your full birth name, including any middle names. A changed name or nickname may give a different result. Accents are normalized, supported letters such as ß expand to ss, and punctuation adds no numeric value. Names in other scripts need a consistent Latin-letter spelling.
What does a zero result mean?
Zero means no letters were classified as consonants in your input. Check the spelling and Y rules. There is no Personality Number 0 interpretation or meaning page.
